Rest in Peace Tattoos

Rest in Peace TattoosAlthough tattoos are primarily associated with entertainment and fashion and are used by people to adorn their bodies with beautiful yet meaningful pictures, still they can be done with other purposes. For instance, some choose a tattoo as the way to commemorate their relatives and friends whom they have lost.

Such tattoos are called memorial tattoos. It is the most personal and intimate tattoo you can get. It acts as a permanent tribute to a person you loved much, a family member or a close friend. It is the way to immortalize your feelings and show how important the person was to you.

There are a lot of patterns for memorial tattoos. You can even consider a portrait memorial but in most cases people feel that it is improper that the face would permanently adorn their body, and resort to something symbolic, a thing that is associated with the person. In this case the tattoo wouldn’t make as much sense to other people as it makes to you, but this kind of tattoo is only for you and you’ll always know its meaning.

Common symbols for memorial tattoos are hearts to show that your heart is breaking, or roses. Religious symbols like crosses, praying hands and rosaries can be used as well. In some designs angel wings or angels and cherubs may be depicted. It is not unusual to include names and dates (both of birth and of death).

Rest in Peace Tattoos

There’re some tattoos that are called Rest in Peace, or R.I.P., tattoos. They are often chosen when people are overwhelmed with grief and loss and want to remember the person. It shows that we pray for people we love may find rest after all tough circumstances, heartache, and depression they encountered in life. We pray for them who are resting now but sometimes will come back as another person and we could meet them, not necessarily in this life but for sure in the next.

The quote often used in Rest in Peace tattoos is as follows: “For those that I’ve lost, God has taken you in, may your souls rest in peace, one day we’ll meet again.”
