It would be all the same for me to to stay away and be a foreigner and a sassenach. But, I’m not giving up my freedom to like Scotland.
What is the point you all are trying to make? It’s almost like being a racist!
I like Scotland very much, the history is very interesting, the nature and countryside is absolutely beautiful, but why do people have to turn into nasty mode?
Have a wee bit of dram and smile for a change for the sassenachs, maybe you’d feel better within yourselves!

    Sláinte!

Bear in mind that they were not guarding the castle. They were guarding the tattoo. It is tradition that the chosen guard of honor also guard the tattoo. Considering the long standing relationship between the Scots and the Kingdom of Norway, I am not surprised that HM the Kings Guard of Norway were chosen.

That flags on the other hand were just rediculous. It’s like they had a bargan sale on flags of 3rd world nations. The order and placement of the flags was rediculous, and as I said, only a handful of european nations were represented. Almost all the flags were African and Asian. One EU flag just doesnt cut it for me.

True, and they are certainly very worthy of being honor guard. But as the actual castle guard? Thats like having american marines on guard in front of buckingham palace. I love the USMC as much as the next guy, but thats that job of the British Army. I just dont like seeing long standing tradions trampled on in the name of internationalism. Guess i’m a bit of a pureist.

    never noticed the flags.
the norwegians were doing it because they were the tattoo guard of honor

Anyone else at the tattoo last year notice the flags on the stands were all from african and asian countries. There was hardly one European flag flying.

Also I found it insulting that the castle guard (in the pill boxes) were not even members of the British Army? They had members of the King of Norways Guard doing the job.

It was in really bad form IMO.

There should be more documentaries, books, etc… addressing the history of Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

I see British History (which to me is English, Welsh, Scots Irish) as being world class, I know it has lots of really bad parts, but British history also did things to help the world. The bad bits have led to the long term positive changes and have shaped our British democracy society. But I think there is far too much concentration on just English history. Welsh and Irish history is interesting and has played as a part as England’s.

I consider myself nationalist, I don’t support the BNP, in fact I see them as racist thugs who give true nationalists a bad reputation. I am a nationalist because I was born English, I am proud of my English British Heritage, but I’m not a racist. I respect the heritage and history of other countries.

Scottishnationalist, I’m beginning to wonder whether you really are a nationalist and not a unionist in disguise to give real nationalists a bad name.

Why can’t you let people be happy with knowing where their roots are from? These people are obviously proud of having Scottish heritage — and I don’t think there could be a bigger compliment than that.

Anyway, I loved the video. :) Thank you so much for uploading it!

Being rasied in scotland makes you scottish. It has nothing to do with any of your bodies vital organs. For fucksake, it is not in “your heart” that is over sentemenatl drimmle you hear from canadians and americans who think they are scottish.

If you were not raised in scotland from a young age to adulthood you are not scottish

    END OF FUCKING STORY.
